Chisholm TrailLocated 9 miles west of Fredericksburg on Hwy 290 West and 2.4 miles on Usener Road, Chisholm Trail Winery is only a short drive from Fredericksburg, but it feels like another world as you're surrounded by the beauty of the Hill Country in it's full glory with no traffic or busy highway in sight. Their longhorns, quarter horses, and miniature donkeys, Jack and Daisy, all roam the property freely. You'll know you're in for a unique experience from the moment you enter their saloon style tasting room, and "belly up" to the spacious bar for a tasting. If you're going to be visiting on a weekend, The Oval Oven Pizzaria, featuring wood-fired gourmet pizza is open on Fridays and Saturdays from noon-5 and Sundays from noon til 4 or until the fresh dough runs out!

PERDERNALES CELLARSSet back a couple of miles off the main drag, Pedernales Cellars is located on 145 acres of sprawling Hill Country beauty. Its location off the highway provides great views from the deck adjacent to the tasting room where you can relax with your favorite glass of wine on a sunny day. It also allows for plenty of room for the vineyards and their state-of-the-art expanded production area based around limestone insulation and a geothermal cooling system. The winery is known for its Spanish and Rhone-style wines and its commitment to Texas fruit–about half their grapes are grown on the property while others are grown in different areas of the state.

Becker VineyardsNot necessarily in Fredericksburg, TX but just a short drive away... Becker is a bit more mainstream (now producing around 1.3 million bottles annually) and has a few other attractions associated with the property. If you time your visit in either May or June, there’s a good shot you’ll get to see a sweeping lavender field not far from the tasting room. They also have extensive fields of wild flowers if you time your visit right.

Rancho Ponte VineyardRancho Ponte Vineyard was opened in January of 2009 by Rachel and Roberto Ponte and is located just outside of Fredericksburg. The Pontes had been growing grapes in California for two decades and decided to move to Central Texas. Roberto Ponte is part of a fourth generation of winegrowers. Rancho Ponte specializes in making interesting blends. One such wine is “Triple M” which combines Merlot, Mourvèdre, and Muscat Canelli.
